A new trailer for Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator has dropped, giving us our first look at what players can expect in the day in the life of a Barcelona taxi driver. From disgruntled passengers to evading traffic, there’s a lot to look out for in Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator.
Fare driving
The trailer begins with a rather impatient passenger entering your taxi, telling you to get them to their destination without being late. This is our first glimpse into the passenger interaction Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator provides.
From annoyed business people to overexcited tourists, a wide range of people can be picked up as fares. The trailer shows that during their journey, passengers may strike up a conversation with you, with the game giving you up to four options in how to respond.
Conversations range from discussing the history of the Sagrada Familia, one of Barcelona’s most famous landmarks, to passengers asking you to slow down or just open a window for them.
Navigating the streets
The trailer then moves on to show off how the city of Barcelona evolves during a shift behind the wheel.
The day-night cycle looks stunning, with the city lit up spectacularly at night. We also see how traffic accidents close off key routes throughout the city, with you needing to learn more than one way to get to your destination to ensure you don't get held up.
The trailer then shows your taxi getting into an accident, mainly due to some rather reckless driving on your part. This section also demonstrates how passengers can react to your driving, with speeding through the streets leading to them shouting at you to slow down. Crazy Taxi, this is not.
Once the accident happens, the trailer shows how you can recover your car to the garage for repairs. This, combined with the repair bill, will cost you, so it’s advised to keep things civil on the streets of Catalonia. We also get a look at the refuelling system in Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator, with different fuel stations charging different prices for a fill-up.
The trailer then finishes with a passenger arriving at their destination, showing how the drop-off works in the game.
