The Los Santos Tuners update in GTA Online has everyone jumping back on the game to enjoy the incredible new content.
However, there's one part of the update that is as yet unreleased, that has us a little nervous. Exclusive (and faster) next-gen vehicles.
So, let's take a look at this element of the update, and what it could mean for the game as a whole!
What is becoming pay to win?
One of the closing remarks of the latest GTA Online update is that owners of next-gen consoles will receive some exclusive vehicles.
On the face of it, I'm more than happy for that to happen. We've also seen similar rewards before where certain skins/vehicles are locked to a specific platform.
However, this time, there is a catch. Those cars will then be upgradeable with "a higher top-speed and more" as another incentive to move players over.
Faster console, faster car
So, it seems that those lucky enough to get their hands on a next-gen console may soon be at a big advantage (if you're still struggling, try following @GfinityDealsUK or @GfinityDeals for drop info!)
This comes not only from the fact that they will have a more consistent refresh rate than their console counterparts, but also faster loading times, higher visual fidelity, and now, faster cars.
These cars will be exclusive to next-gen, along with their higher top speed and other upgrades. Hopefully, it's not all game over for the rest of us though!
Not all doom and gloom
Thankfully, there are a number of things that Rockstar Games may do to maintain the 'competitive integrity' of online racing in GTA Online (don't worry, we really do use that term very loosely).
Rockstar Games may push these vehicles into their own category, meaning that we'll never have to race against them in the first place.
Likewise, Rockstar may add other vehicles with a matching top speed that are universal. This is assuming that the "higher top speed" of these exclusive vehicles is the fastest in the game in the first place.
No matter the outcome, we hope Rockstar doesn't force players down the impossible-to-acquire next-gen route, as it could leave many online racing fans behind!
