Ride 5 vs Ride 4 - Which is the better game from this thrilling racing simulator series?

We loved both Ride 5 and Ride 4 when we reviewed them, but which is the best? Both are highly rated, but which has been the most impactful on the bike racing video game genre?

Ride 5 vs Ride 4

Both Ride 4 and Ride 5 have been developed by Milestone and released in 2020 and 2023, respectively. Both are bike racing simulators and are arguably the two best bike games of their generations.

When it comes to a direct comparison, both Rides have 230 fully-licenced bikes from 20 manufacturers. When it comes to the tracks, Ride 4 has 30, with Ride 5 having 36, so slightly more.

The largest advantage for Ride 5 though, has to be its Career Mode and Rivalry system. Even though these have fallen short of their potentials, having them in Ride 5 makes it a much more complete game.

As for the reviews, RealSport gave Ride 4 four stars out of five, with us at Racinggames.gg rating Ride 5 at 8/10. So, whichever one you choose, they're both quality games and around equal in terms of their status on release day.

Consoles & graphics

This is where the biggest differences between the two games can be found. Ride 5 is a next-gen exclusive game, so it's only available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S and PC via the Steam Store.

Ride 4 was originally released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It was later ported to PS5 and Series X, but this wasn't a game that took full advantage of the next-gen hardware.

There are advantages to both Ride 4 and Ride 5, depending on how you look at it. Gamers that haven't yet updated to next-gen can enjoy Ride 4 and the game is understandably cheaper to buy than Ride 5.

Ride 5 has better graphics, a smoother frame rate and can be played in 4K on its systems. It's also exclusively on next-gen, so the game as a whole is meant for these systems, rather than Ride 4's ports.
