It's hard to believe that Rocket League launched seven years ago. In that time, the car football game has become one of the most popular online multiplayer games of all time and a staple of esports. Combining cars with football, Rocket League’s easy-to-understand yet hard-to-master gameplay makes it incredibly fun and addictive to play, whether you dive in for five minutes for a quick kickabout or five hours.
To celebrate Rocket League’s seventh birthday, Psyonix is introducing a new Limited Time Event to Rocket League Season 7 this week: Birthday Ball.
New Limited Time Modes
Starting this week on 6 July, the Birthday Ball LTE will host two anniversary-themed Limited Time Modes. Available from 6 – 13 July, the 2v2 Heatseeker LTM will give the ball homing abilities, making it gravitate towards the opponent’s goal to keep you on your toes.
Starting on 13 July and ending on 19 July, the Battle Royale-inspired Knockout LTM is also returning. This mode adds special Attack, Block, and Grab abilities, adding a new combat element to Rocket League with the goal to knock players out of arenas and be the last player standing.
Birthday Ball Challenges
Rocket League’s birthday celebrations won’t end there as there are several anniversary-themed rewards to unlock.
Finishing every Birthday Ball Challenge will earn you 300 Credits while completing challenges will unlock the Golden Goat Player Banner and Precious Metal Avatar Border. Other challenge rewards include an Import Item Drop and 20,000 XP.
New Items
To mark Rocket League’s seven-year milestone, new fancy anniversary-themed items will also be available such as the Titanium White Fennec and Fancy Formal Fennec Decal.
In addition, you can also customise your car with two glorious golden items rotating in the Item Shop throughout the event: the Spyder: Anniversary Edition Wheels and Top Hat: Anniversary Edition Topper.
Golden Eggs can also be earned throughout the Birthday Ball LTE to unlock Items from the Champions Series 1-4. Like previous Golden rewards, Gold Golden Eggs are earned by completing the Challenge up to five times and need to be opened in your Inventory to unlock items.
