Superbikes are returning to video game consoles later this year! There will be an official SBK game on Sony's home consoles. SBK 22 will be released later this year, but will the Nintendo Switch be one of those systems?
SBK 22 not confirmed for Switch
Despite SBK 22 being primed and ready for a release on both Xbox and PlayStation home consoles, we haven't heard anything about Switch yet. In addition, SBK 22 will also be released on PC.
SBK 22 isn't confirmed for Switch though, but could this change later on? Well, it's certainly possible, given that other Milestone titles like MotoGP 22 and Hot Wheels Unleashed have been released on Switch.
It's not uncommon for Switch releases to be made months after other consoles, so we could see SBK 22 on Switch in early 2023.
SBK 22 on other systems
SBK 22 is unsurprisingly going to be released on PlayStation 5 and Series X. This is the most advanced system that Sony and Microsoft make can handle the processing power required for SBK 22.
What about PS4 and Xbox One though? The system is almost ten years old now, but it's still receiving new games for it. That will continue to be the case for SBK 22 as well, as both the next and previous generations of console will be getting the game.
Those that buy the game on either Xbox or PlayStation will also be able to play the game on the other system. This will be at no extra cost, but does mean you'll need a disc version of the Series X or PS5 to take advantage of this.
As for what the game will look like on the next-gen systems, we haven't seen much in terms of gameplay so far, but we can make some assumptions. On PS5 and Series X, SBK 22 will likely run in 4K and at 60 frames per second.
The PS4 and One versions won't be able to handle that level of graphics, but it should be able to output in full HD (1080p) without difficulty.
Release Date
SBK 22 will be released worldwide on September 15, 2022. SBK 22 will be released on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X|S and PC via the Steam Store.
