More than two decades since the beloved Star Wars Racer trilogy, the universe has finally sanctioned its spiritual successor in Star Wars: Galactic Racer. Helmed by Fuse Games, a new studio built from former Burnout and Need for Speed developers, the run-based racer is set to bring the motorsport’s classic rags-to-podium tale to the galaxy far, far away.

Although the information on Star Wars: Galactic Racer remains slim, we have compiled everything known and that has been revealed about the game so far.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer takes place after the fall of the Empire. With the fist of the Empire no longer choking the galaxy, things are a bit chaotic, slipping the Outer Rims to the familiar lawlessness.

Along with multiplayer, the game has a main single-player campaign that follows Shade. Described as "a lone racer with a dream of glory and revenge,” the story follows your character on their journey to become an elite racing pilot. Not much specific is known about the story so far.

What we do know is that we'll see new characters and locations. Sentinel One was a new area featured in the announcement trailer. Per Fuse Games co-founder Matt Webster, Sentinel One is "home to a Skakoan listening station built on a vast planetary scale with huge antennas littering the landscape."

Jakku and Ando Prime are two known locations confirmed for the circuit racer. Among the returning things is also Sebulba, the dastardly Dug.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is a run-based, high-stakes racer where you'll hurtle around at dangerous speeds and can go boom any minute. That's the gist of it.

Matt Webster noted to StarWars.com: "We’ve drawn real inspiration from runs-based games so the player will have meaningful, consequential decisions to be making on how they chose their path to become an elite racing pilot — from the vehicle they choose to start with, the upgrade choices they make to create a build that really suits their playstyle and what events they select in determining their path to become champion of the League."

Unlike most previous racers in the universe, Galactic Racer won't just focus on pod racing. In fact, the reveal trailer didn't feature any. There will be multiple vehicle classes, and several different landspeeders and speederbikes can be seen in the reveal. While podracers were absent in the trailer, there is a high chance of them being present in the game, especially knowing Sebulba is confirmed.

Each vehicle is also unique. The new Skim Speeder shown in the trailer is said to "reward flowing lines and maintaining momentum, banking through corners and knife-edging through narrow gaps." Speederbikes, meanwhile, were described as "fast and ferocious" and will have you "braking heavily into corners, really leaning in and then massive drops of acceleration as you power your way through the exit."

Focus will not just be on the finishing line. If the reveal is anything to go by, blowing up your rivals with vehicle combat will be just as important. You can create chaos in single-player and competitive multiplayer modes.
