Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Suffering Login Issues on Day One

After more than a decade the Test Drive Unlimited franchise has returned. Or at least, it's tried to return.

The Gold Edition of the game unlocked this morning with players around the world excited to dive into Hong Kong Island and start their journey to the top of Solar Crown.

We loved our time reviewing TDU Solar Crown, but others are unable to enjoy the game right now.

The Gold Edition unlocked early this morning, but players have been unable to make their arrival in Hong Kong due to server issues.

As an always online game, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown requires a connection to the game's servers in order to play and right now very few players are able to connect.

The r/tdu subreddit is in flames, with people furious that they paid for early access, took time off work, and now cannot access the game at all.

This is a familiar issue with always online game launches, but somehow it happens every time and developers are surprised by it.

Hopefully it will force the acceleration of an offline mode for TDU Solar Crown because really the game doesn't need permanent online connectivity for you to have a good time.

Our review was conducted with no multiplayer elements and the game was a joy. So why KT Racing felt it needed to be always online is lost on us.
