If all the additions for Year 3 of The Crew Motorfest have you smitten, you can play the trial version to get a taste of Ivory Tower's open-world racer. But if the limited hours don't quite sell you, the entire game can be played for free with the help of the Friend Pass.

What is Friend Pass in The Crew Motorfest?
The Friend Pass in The Crew Motorfest allows you to play the full game for free, provided you join a co-op session with your friend who owns the game. Up to three additional friends can be added to a crew this way, so your gang of four can enjoy O'ahu as long as one owns the game.
How Friend Pass works in The Crew Motorfest
Like most Friend Passes in games, every The Crew Motorfest owner can invite 3 additional players to play the game at no additional cost. You'll have to invite them as you normally would in-game through the Crew Management Menu.
The one who owns the game must be the crew leader. Free players can only play whenever the leader is active and in the session created by them. While Ubisoft hasn't detailed how progression works, it should carry over if you choose to buy the full game.
Invitees will have to download the trial version of the game. The trial version is limited to 5 hours of playtime and is available on all platforms. You can continue to play past the limit as long as you have a friend who owns the game and is willing to invite you via the Friend Pass.
There is one massive catch here: All players have to be on the same platform family. This means PlayStation players can only use the feature with friends on PlayStation, and the same goes for Xbox and PC.
The base game does not support full-fledged crossplay, where you can invite players from different platforms for co-op. Crossplay is restricted to certain modes like Grand Race, so not being able to use Friend Pass with different platforms isn't exactly a surprise.
