Based on the real-life Tourist Trophy, KT Racing’s TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge games have enabled players to experience one of the most dangerous motorbike races in the world. Taking place on a treacherous 37-mile road in the Isle of Man, riders risk their lives hurtling down country roads at insane speeds.
Two years after the last game, publisher Nacon has announced a third game is in development, with TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 3 racing onto PC and consoles in 2023.
TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 3 announced
The last two Ride on the Edge games were developed by KT Racing, the French studio behind WRC Generations.
But with KT Racing focusing on Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, Ride on the Edge 3 has been handed over to RaceWard Studio, the Italian studio responsible for the realistic RiMS Racing motorcycle simulation.
Based in Milan, Italy, Raceward is made up of industry veterans who have worked on many motorcycle games.
Although KT Racing isn't handling Ridge on the Edge 3, the sequel will run on their KT Engine that powered the last two Ride on the Edge games.
"After the great feedback we received about RiMS Racing, we are delighted to have applied all our expertise into this incredible race," said Marco Ponte, CEO and Creative Director at RaceWard Studio.
"For a team of developers with such passion for motorcycling, it makes us immensely proud to make the official game that recreates this legendary race for motorbike fans around the world."
Ride on the Edge 3 features 32 circuits including current and historical courses, as well as nearly 40 Superbike and Supersport bikes and riders. Each bike can also be upgraded to increase performance.
RaceWard has also upgraded the physics, meaning that “controlling cornering and braking requires more precision than ever.”
Ride on the Edge 3 also introduces a new Open Roads feature allowing riders to explore 124 miles of roads around the Isle of Man, find challenges, and compete in weekly and monthly events.
From the announcement trailer, we can see that Ride on the Edge 3 will feature a rider helmet camera like the last game. The sense of speed also looks superb, capturing the intensity of the real-life Tourist Trophy.
