The Assetto Corsa series is one of the best racing simulators on the market. Ever since it launched in 2014, Assetto Corsa has been a solid option for sim racers. The sequel, Assetto Corsa Competizione built upon the foundations laid by AC, and we can't wait until the third game launches.
Which is the best title to play on, though? We give our take right here!
Old, not obsolete
The original Assetto Corsa is still available to buy, despite it being seven years old now. It's also available on the same three consoles as ACC as well, being out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. However, this is where the similarities between the two games end.
One of the big positives to AC over ACC though, is that AC has had far more time to form its modding community. There are hundreds of circuits and cars that have been added to AC since its release, which has made the game have a significantly longer lifespan on PC.
Graphically and audibly, ACC is significantly better than the original AC. If it's a good simulation model that you want as well, ACC is leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessor.
The new kid on the block
Assetto Corsa Competizione has been out now since 2019 on PC. ACC made the leap to console last year too, so it's also out on both PS4 and Xbox One.
If you're looking for authenticity, ACC is official game of the 2018 and 19 Blancpain GT Series and Endurance Cups, as well as the 24 Hours of Spa. When it comes to circuits, ACC also holds the advantage thanks to its DLC circuits that were added post-release.
Competizione is the better game is almost every regard, if you're going to invest in one of the AC's, definitely go for that one. Unless you're wanting to delve into the more fleshed-out modding market of the original AC, that is.
