Will Assetto Corsa Competizione be Cross-platform?

Cross-platform play has become a revolutionary feature in video gaming. Crossplay breaks down the online multiplayer barriers that have traditionally existed between consoles. This feature is becoming more common with each year, but it hasn't made its way to the Assetto Corsa series yet.

Are there any plans for this to change in the future? We've got everything you need to know about crossplay on AC right here!

A massive opportunity

Both PlayStation and Xbox have their own major racing simulators that are console exclusives. Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport are only available on PlayStation and Xbox, respectively. That means that you cannot play both on the same console, nor would crossplay ever be feasible for them.

BETTER WITH FRIENDS: Crossplay opens up opportunities for more player to race against each other

This leaves a massive gap in the market for a racing sim that is available on both Sony's and Microsoft's consoles. Enter: Assetto Corsa.

Assetto Corsa Competizione doesn't have crossplay available, but could that be about to change?

Well, there has been no word regarding this from developers KUNOS. Although ACC is still regularly updated, so there is a chance this will change in the near future.

However, KUNOS' work right now is likely focussing on the next Assetto Corsa rather than a large update like adding crossplay.

Which racing games already have crossplay?

Crossplay hasn't been implemented in racing games as frequently as other genres. However, Need for Speed Heat, Forza Horizon 4 and Dirt 5 are notable examples.

Given that the next AC title likely won't launch until around 2024, it's almost certain that it will have crossplay in some shape or form when it releases.
