Assetto Corsa Competizione is a game we love playing. The popular racing simulator has been out on PC for two years now and has also been released on PS4 and the Xbox One.
Will ACC be coming to the next-gen consoles though, specifically the PlayStation 5. The developers have had plenty to say about this, so let's dive into the details!
Kunos' next-gen plans
Thanks to the success of ACC on both PC and the current-gen home consoles, developers KUNOS outlined their plans to release the game on both next-gen consoles. They didn't give a definitive date, but stated back in February that ACC will come to Series X and PS5 "later this year".
We haven't heard anything since, so a delay is possible, but we can be hopeful of seeing ACC on next-gen before the year is out.
KUNOS could've been forgiven for waiting until their next new game came out for their first next-gen entry, but they aren't waiting around.
So, expect a 4K-optimised Assetto Corsa on PS5 before 2022!
Competizione is already on PS5... Sort of
It's a technicality, but ACC is already available to play on PlayStation 5. Because of the PS5's backward compatibility capabilities, if you pop your PS4 ACC disc into your PS5, you can play it on the next-gen console. The gameplay will be scaled up too, so it's not as if it is the exact same experience on both consoles.
