EA Sports WRC will be the first World Rally Championship game developed by Codemasters and Distributed by EA. With a graphical update via a new engine, extended stages, and even a custom car builder, there's a lot to be excited about with the new generation of WRC games.
But for old-gen players, there's one big question. Is EA Sports WRC on Xbox One? We've got everything you need to know about EA Sports WRC on the Xbox One right here!
Is EA Sports WRC available on Xbox One?
Last year's official World Rally Championship game, WRC Generations, was developed by Kylotonn and released on the Xbox One. WRC Generations was released for both the next-gen and old-gen systems, as it straddled both console generations.
Unfortunately for WRC gamers who haven't upgraded yet though, EA Sports WRC is not available on the Xbox One. EA Sports WRC will be available on Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X | S, but not the old-gen Xbox One and PS4. There has been no news regarding a Nintendo Switch release, but this may happen sometime next year.
This will be so that Codemasters can fully optimise their new WRC game for the next-gen systems, so this year's rally title will be the best-looking one ever.
WRC on Xbox
So, could EA Sports WRC come to Xbox One post-launch? Well, it's pretty common for games to be released on the previous generation to be re-released (or "upgraded") to next-gen post-launch.
However, it's almost unheard of for games to go the other way. While there are far more players on Xbox One compared to Series X | S, it makes little sense for Codemasters to spend time and resources porting a game to a less powerful system.
That's assuming that EA Sports WRC could even run on the One, and it's very possible that it's not able to run on this system.
So, if you want to play WRC and you have an Xbox One, you either have to upgrade to the Series X | S or keep playing WRC Generations.
