Will Gran Turismo 7 have more cars?

The Gran Turismo series is renowned for its comprehensive car lists, but will Gran Turismo 7 have more cars than ever before?

When the first GT launched in 1997 on the original PlayStation, it was the first racing game with more than 100 officially licensed cars. This was unprecedented at a time when other racing games like The Need for Speed had less than 10 cars. Since then, each mainline GT game has launched with hundreds of cars. Currently, GT6 has the largest care roster in the series to date, with a staggering 1,279 cars available to drive.

In 2017, Gran Turismo Sport launched with 168 cars. This was a smaller number than GT6 because every car model was rebuilt from the ground up with higher quality modelling. However, thanks to post-release updates, the car list in GT Sport increased to 338, but will Gran Turismo 7 have more cars? Let's find out.

Will Gran Turismo 7 have more cars?

Sony has confirmed GT7 will launch with more than 420 cars. This means GT7 will have more cars than GT Sport on day one. After launch, we expect future updates will add more cars to GT7. Updates added an extra 170 cars to GT Sport, so GT7's total car count could potentially increase to 500-600.

GT7 will have more than 420 cars at launch - more than GT Sport currently has

A complete car list hasn’t been revealed yet, but some of the new cars in GT7 that were absent in GT Sport include the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, BAC Mono, Ferrari F8 Tributo, Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R, and Porsche Vision Gran Turismo, to name a few.

A staple of GT Mode, used car dealerships are returning in GT7 to get you started with your racing career. Like before, these dealerships will be regularly updated with affordable used cars including historic Japanese cars from the 1980s and 1990s.
