V10 R-League: BMW v Williams preview - Two Group B heavyweights go head-to-head

The first round of the group stages of the V10 R-League has been completed and we're so glad it's back!

Round 2 starts on Monday 19th April and begins with a huge Group B clash. Williams and BMW are the current top two teams in the Group B standings and will fight it out for supremacy.

But what can we expect? And who will come out on top? We've got everything you need to know right here!

Battle to be top dog

When the groups were drawn, both BMW and Williams knew they'd be fighting it out to see who would top Group B. Both sides will be keen to avoid being clean swept, as McLaren Shadow could be one of the teams to beat this season and a non-score here would give the new boys the advantage.

PERFECT SCORE: Williams scored all four points in Round 1 and will want to keep their streak going

As for who specifically will be racing, neither team is making a change from their successful first round team.

Williams keeps their tried and tested trio of Martin Stefanko, Kuba Brzezinski, and Nikodem Wisniewski in the car, after their clean sweep against JAESA Suzuki in Round 1.

BMW will have been happy with their Round 1 performance. They will stick with Kevin Siggy, Michael Romanidis, and Felix Quirmbach for this match.

Prediction

This is a very hard one to call, as although both teams were in good form in Round 1, their armour certainly wasn't bulletproof. BMW did drop a point to Fordzilla, while Williams would've conceded a point to JAESA Suzuki had it not been for a steward's inquiry.

POWERING THROUGH: BMW could really throw the cat amongst the pigeons in Round 2

When these teams faced each other in Season 1, Williams came out on top 2-1. That was when the format was different and around a circuit that's not on the calendar for Season 2, though.

However, if you take out the head-to-head result, Williams would've won 2-0.

The signs are definitely pointing towards a Williams victory, but BMW could easily snatch a point or two. One of the beauties of the V10 R-League is that any team can win on their day. Strategy and luck will no doubt play a part too, as we've already seen errors in the pits during relay races, which can lead to insurmountable gaps.

One thing's for sure though, this is going to be a brilliant contest between two teams in fine form.
