V10 R-League Week 4 Preview: Key battles in both groups

We are three weeks into Season 3 of the V10 R-League and while some teams look assured of a playoff spot, others are on the verge of elimination.

Welcome to our V10 R-League Week 4 preview!

Red Bull Racing vs Team Fordzilla

Friday 24 June - 1pm BST - WATCH LIVE

The first match of the day is a crucial Group B.

Both Red Bull and Fordzilla are in danger of missing the playoffs thanks to the stacked nature of their group.

Red Bull simply must come away with a clean sweep 4-0 win here is they want any chance of the playoffs as this is their final race of the group stage.

With just two points from their first three matches, the Red Bull trio of Joni Tormala, Yuri Kasdorp, and Liam Parnell simply must cut out the errors and execute.

As for Fordzilla, they too have been on the receiving end from Group B's strongest teams. They have suffered a pair of 4-0 losses to Mercedes and Redline, leaving them pointless so far.

With this and next week's match against Aston Martin though, they can still make the playoffs.

It will be a tough ask though. Fordzilla is reliant on the rapid but inconsistent Emre Cihan.

This match may well be won on who makes the fewest mistakes, rather than who is the outright fastest.

Aston Martin vs Mercedes

Friday 24 June - 3:30pm BST - WATCH LIVE

After their week off, the Mercedes team returns fresh and ready to secure their grasp on Group B.

The Silver Arrows trio of Jarno Opmeer, Bono Huis, and Cedric Thome have been imperious throughout this season, barely missing a beat since their introduction and already look likely to be in Abu Dhabi at the end of July for the live finals.

Aston Martin finally got their campaign on track with a comprehensive victory over Red Bull last week that puts them in pole position to grab the last playoff spot from Group B.

Manuel Biancolilla has been particularly impressive, with Simon Weigang and Alejandro Sanchez forming a pretty strong trio.

They will need to employ some serious teamwork if they are to take points off Mercedes this week though. Maybe a track like Mugello where it is harder to overtake could be on the cards.

BMW vs R8G Esports

Friday 24 June - 6pm BST - WATCH LIVE - BT Sport 2

Over in Group A, last season's champions BMW has been struggling. With just one point from their first two matches they have a lot of ground to make up.

While the automatic semi-final spot is likely beyond them, the wildcard is still in play. Especially if they can get some points off R8G.

Romain Grosjean's crew bounced back last week with a 3-1 win to get on the board, and will be looking to solidify their spot as a playoff team.

Erhan Jajovski was key to their success last season, and he's been joined by Jiri Toman to form a pretty deadly duo for R8G.

If they can peel some points away from BMW it could all-but secure their playoff spot ahead of a tricky final week match against Williams Esports.

JAESA Team Suzuki vs YAS Heat

Friday 24 June - 8:30pm BST - WATCH LIVE - BT Sport 2

The final match of the day pits the dominant YAS Heat team against JAESA Team Suzuki.

YAS Heat had last week off but will return to action led by the incomparable James Baldwin once again. After a brilliant debut season last year, Baldwin has continued his excellent form into Season 3 and looks set to lead the YAS Heat team into the semi-finals.

But an upset is always on the cards in the V10 R-League! JAESA Team Suzuki sit on four points and have their eyes on a playoff spot. With a rescheduled match against Williams to come, Suzuki will be after at least a point from this race to help hold off the charging R8G side.
