F1 2021 is the first Codemasters game released since their acquisition by Electronic Arts earlier this year, and EA has lost no time making the most of its newest exclusive license. Now Codemasters, EA Sports, and F1 2021 are combining with McLaren driver and all-round legend Daniel Ricciardo to create a series called "After The Apex".
No, it's not Formula 1 drivers playing Apex Legends, as awesome as that would be. But if it isn't that, then what is it? Let's take a look.
Loving the danger
Episode 1 of this series opens with some awesome artwork and Danny Ric himself saying "I always loved any sport that's dangerous".
The dangers of Formula 1 are well documented, but what else is the Aussie talking about?

"I love seeing how other athletes perform under that same sort of pressure. You're always looking for that unfair advantage. And for me, looking at other sports is an opportunity to find it."
Ricciardo has already appeared in FIFA 21 as a playable character, but somehow we don't quite think that's what he's talking about.
Going behind the scenes
The official press release around 'After The Apex' describes getting an exclusive look at Daniel's life and passions away from the track.
It looks like Codemasters & EA are going to give fans a glimpse of the Honey Badger that goes beyond epic divebombs and shoeies.
“Working alongside our partners at EA Sports, we are excited to explore new avenues and create content that gives our players a unique look at their F1 heroes away from the track,” said Paul Jeal, F1 Senior Franchise Director at Codemasters. “We have more things planned during the remainder of the series, and we look forward to sharing more in the coming months.”
Whatever it is, we can't wait to see more. The art style of this video is awesome, and hopefully it can provide some terrific gaming content, combined with that "Drive To Survive" feel that we all know and love.
