F1 22 has been out for a few months, but Codemasters is continually supporting this year’s F1 game with a raft of updates. This month, new updates will add the Formula 2 World Championship, a Mika Hakkinen game icon, and more to F1 22. Here's everything you can look forward to in the F1 22 October updates.
Formula 2 World Championship arriving in F1 22
Arriving on 11 October, the first update will bring the 2022 Formula 2 World Championship to F1 22.
Players will be able to take part in the 14-round season including F2 Sprint races, competing with the likes of Logan Sargeant, Jack Doohan and the recently crowned Champion, Felipe Drugovich.
Mika Häkkinen icon
After that, another update on 17 October will add legendary driver Mika Hakkinen as an in-game Icon in My Team until 7 November.
Nicknamed the Flying Finn, Hakkinen won the World Championship in 1998 and 1999 and joins other F1 22 Icons including Michael Schumacher.
McLaren Special Livery
Following the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix that saw Max Verstappen crowned World Champion in unexpected circumstances, McLaren Racing’s Future Mode special livery is also coming to F1 22 this month.
Inspired by the landscapes of Singapore and Japan, the futuristic cyberpunk livery can be downloaded for free for a limited time via Podium Pass Series 3.
In addition, US-inspired content is also coming to F1 22 on 17 October including a US-inspired Stars and Stripes livery, helmet, race suit, gloves, and a new “The Griddy” podium celebration.
Other customisation items can also be unlocked through 30 free and VIP tiers in Podium Pass Series 3, which launches on 12 October.
“We’ve packed so much into the latest update with something for all players,” said Paul Jeal, Senior Director F1 Franchise at Codemasters. “Whether it’s vibrant Podium Pass items, crazy dance celebrations, a new racing icon, or the full 2022 F2 season, players have lots of new content giving them the perfect excuse to head back onto the track.”
