We’re onto the third title of the F1 Manager series, and Frontier has thankfully listened to the fans. Custom teams are joining the grid from 2024, with the new Create a Team mode putting you in the hot seat of your very own team.
From hiring drivers and staff to designing your own livery and signing sponsors, there’s a lot to do when hiring your own team. With all that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about the Create A Team mode coming to F1 Manager 2024.
Latest news - First look at Create a Team mode
During March's Unlocked livestream, Frontier gave fans a first look at F1 Manager 2024's Create a Team mode. Work-in-progress footage shows off the livery editor, as a car is customised with different colour options and livery designs.
We also get a brief look at fictional sponsor logos being placed and race suit customisation.
Custom teams confirmed for F1 Manager 2024
F1 Manager 2024 has been officially revealed, and it’s all about the new game mode coming to the game. Create a Team puts you in the driving seat of your very own F1 team, no longer constrained by the existing teams on the grid.
Players can build their team from the ground up, including bringing in drivers and staff from the rest of the grid. You can even design your own livery to make the car your own.

Custom racing
Ever since the F1 Manager series first launched in 2022, fans have all been asking for the same thing. As fun as it is to hop into our favourite F1 team to manage their way to success, most wanted the opportunity to lead their own team to glory.
F1 Manager 2023 continued to exclude an option to make custom teams, but that’s all changed with the reveal of F1 Manager 2024.
So far, all promotional material has focused on the new Create a Team mode. This isn’t surprising, as Frontier is keen to promote arguably the best feature to come to the series since launch.
Create a Team comes with many new features to F1 Manager 2024, so let’s take a look at how it will all work.
Fuel your ambition
Before you can go out and assemble a winning F1 team, you first need to source the finances. Create a Team allows you to negotiate sponsorship opportunities to finance your charge up the grid.
Once the money has been secured, it's up to you how you want to spend it. Whether you want to pump it all into your HQ to build the best team or start cherry-picking the best talent available for a quick burst to victory, there’s more than one way to chase after the biggest prize in motorsport.
You may also need to keep a little extra money locked away to quickly renegotiate a contract with a driver or staff member. In F1 Manager 2024, other teams can poach from you, so always have a shortlist of replacements on hand just in case you need them.
Paint and carbon
Along with the ability to create your own team, F1 Manager 2024 also enables you to design your own F1 car. This includes a custom livery, where you can either get as creative as you want or follow the rest of the grid and leave it allexposed carbon.
With the ability to sign engine deals presumably returning from the first two entries, we’re hoping to see more interaction between your team and your engine supplier moving forward. However, we don't yet know whether this includes sourcing more parts or even acquiring young drivers to develop.
It's also not clear if we will get a full livery editor or if the game limits us to preset designs with the ability to edit the colour, but we should find out more soon.
Managing success
As with every F1 team, the goal is to win the championship as many times as possible. Create a Team presents a wide range of possibilities for how to achieve this, with the decision ultimately resting with you.
Whether it's hiring young talent and building slowly to glory, or going all out by hiring world champions, how your drivers line up is entirely up to you. We're not expecting to see driver academies make their way to the game just yet, but we could be left surprised.
It's a good idea to keep your drivers and staff members happy, as new in F1 Manager 2024 is AI poaching. Now the rest of the grid can steal your brightest prospect, so be on the lookout for any potential suitors.
