To celebrate F1’s return to Asia, McLaren Racing has unveiled a special “Future Mode” livery for this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix as well as the Japanese Grand Prix.
McLaren Future Mode special livery celebrates F1’s return to Asia
Designed to celebrate McLaren’s partnership with the cryptocurrency company OKX, the vibrant livery boasts cyberpunk-inspired engine illustrations combined with neon pink flourishes that contrast McLaren’s traditional orange and black livery.
Inspired by the landscapes of Singapore and Japan, McLaren says the special livery “represents the emergence of new technologies from the region, with a look to the future inspired by the cityscapes of Singapore and Japan.” It’s a striking design and we look forward to seeing it in Singapore this weekend.
The eye-catching livery will feature on both MCL36 F1 cars during the Singapore Grand Prix (30 September–2 October) and Japanese Grand Prix (7 October–9 October). It will also be branded on Lando Norris’ and Daniel Ricciardo’s racing suits.
“We’re excited to celebrate our partnership with OKX through this bold and vibrant livery for the upcoming races in Asia. McLaren and OKX are united in driving ahead and constantly striving to break boundaries, and the Future Mode campaign is an opportunity to champion these values together on our global stage.”
McLaren special livery coming to F1 22 in October
You'll be able to race with the McLaren special livery in F1 22 from 11 October after the Japanese Grand Prix. It will be free for all players as part of a downloadable pack in Podium Pass Series 3 and will replace the standard McLaren Racing livery in-game for a month.
After that, players can download the new McLaren livery for free. The McLaren Shadow Team will also use the new livery in the F1 Esports Series from October 12 to 14.
This follows the Ferrari special livery from the Italian Grand Prix being added to F1 22 earlier this month.
Given that the Ferrari special livery coincided with the Shanghai circuit returning to F1 22, we’re hoping another new track will come with the McLaren special livery – Hockenheimring or Nurburgring GP anyone?
