Now the Forza Horizon 5 map is revealed, we're taking a closer look at each region of Mexico we'll be driving in once November 9th arrives. We're particularly excited about the diversity of the biomes.
From the massive volcano to the long stretches of beach, this looks to be the most amazing Horizon map yet!
The arid desert and the volcano
In the northwest of the map is the volcano. We've also got an area of gypsum sand (the white patch) before getting to the arid desert and the rocky coast beach.
There's plenty of interesting items here, including the twisty routes around the volcano and the off-road area by the gypsum desert. This area will be similar to the Mudkickers Adventure Park of Forza Horizon 4, but sandy rather than muddy.
The dark patches of ground left and right of the volcano are volcanic rocks deposited by previous eruptions.
The Dunas Blancas desert has massive dunes similar to the UFO crash site in Lego Valley but on a much larger scale.
Horizon Stadium, the canyon, Guanajuato
The northeast of the map has the city of Guanajuato. We're looking forward to seeing how the developers use the famous tunnels under the city!
This is also the area with the Horizon Stadium. This is the location we saw in the initial gameplay demonstration. Here we'll be putting together custom events and able to tweak the laws of physics.
The canyon will be an interesting region too. Here we'll see the train passing through. It looks like there could be a cable car and we like the look of the teardrop-shaped off-road area next to it.
Tropical coast, swamp, and temples
The southeast of the map goes from farmland to swamps to beaches. In this region, there are several historical sites such as Teotihuacan and Ek' Balam. We're expecting the former to be a great site for drag racing.
Developers are particularly proud of the waterfall in the far south of this region. We'll be stopping by there for some Forza photography!
Golf courses, Mulegé, the rocky coast
The southwest of the map includes the main festival site just north of the town of Mulegé.
Misión Santa Rosalía de Mulegé is a Jesuit site featuring a church constructed in the 1700s. We can also see an airport, presumably, we'll be using that for drag racing, and the golf course in this area.
We're excited to see what De Otro Mondo means. Translated as "The Other World" it could represent the access point for the DLC?
Overall impressions of the Mexico map
The Forza Horizon 5 map is vast and rich. Driving coast to coast will feel like a real Mexican road trip, with so much to see and do along the way.
The huge network of roads ensures there'll be something for every Horizon player. We love the switchbacks on either side of the volcano and the long stretch of highway. Whatever kind of driving route keeps you entertained, they've included it in this Mexico map.
