Gran Turismo 7 May Update 1.48: Everything You Need to Know

Gran Turismo 7 update 1.48 is out now.

With five new cars instead of the usual three including a returning manufacturer, update 1.48 is the largest GT7 update so far this year. On top of that, the latest update adds a new GT Cafe Menu Book plus new World Circuits events and a new Scape location for virtual car photographers.

Latest news: Gran Turismo update 1.48 out now

Gran Turismo 7 update 1.48 is out now. GT7's May update adds five new cars, including the series return of the Honda NSX JGTC and Nissan Skyline GTS-R, plus the Honda Civic EG, Volvo 240 Estate, and Volvo V40.

Beyond the new cars, update 1.48 also includes a new GT Cafe Menu Book, World Circuit events, and a new Scapes location, plus new engine swaps and improved mechanical damage physics for certain cars.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.48 release date

Just like the trains in Japan, the Gran Turismo 7 monthly updates run like clockwork.

GT7 updates usually go live on the last Thursday of the month, and this will also be the case for the May update. Gran Turismo 7 update 1.48 will be available tod ownload from Wednesday, May 29 11:00pm PST and May 30 7:00am BST / 3:00pm JST.

New cars

Each monthly update usually includes three new GT7 cars, but update 1.48 will add five cars to the roster, including the return of two JDM legends. In terms of cars, this is GT7's largest update of 2024 so far.

Last seen in Gran Turismo 6, the '00 NSX GT500 is an iconic Gran Turismo car. Adorned in its iconic Castrol Mugen livery, it can be purchased in the Legends Car Dealership.

This isn't the only new JDM car, as the NSX GT500 will be joined by the '87 Nissan Skyline GTS-R. Limited to only 800 examples, the GTS-R features an uprated version of the GTS model’s turbo inline-six engine, rated at 207 hp. Modified suspension and a larger, more prominent rear spoiler separate it from the regular GTS.

The ‘93 Honda Civic SiR II hatchback completes the Japanese lineup. Volvo will make its GT7 debut with the '13 V40 T5 R-Design, while the V40 T5 R-Design will make its series debut. The V40 T5 will be sold at Brand Central, while the remaining cars can be found in the Used Car Dealership.

Menu Book and World Circuits events

Beyond the new cars, update 1.48 will add a new GT Café Menu Book for car collectors. Unlocked at Collector Level 48, Extra Menu No. 39 will see you acquiring Japanese GT cars.

The single-player campaign will also expand with four new World Circuits events:

• Europe Sunday Cup 400 – Kyoto Driving Park: Yamagiwa
• Japanese FF Challenge 450 – Autopolis International Racing Course: Short Course
• Japanese FR Challenge 450 – Autodrome Lago Maggiore: West
• World Tour Car 800 – Circuit de Sainte-Croix: A
  

Finally, virtual photographers will get a new Scape location set in Haulover Park, Miami.

Sadly, update 1.48 does not include new tracks. The last circuit (Lake Shore) was added to GT7 in the Spec II update six months ago.
