Gran Turismo 7 has had an update each month so far in 2024 and this likely won't change in May.

Gran Turismo 7's May update (expected to be update 1.48) will likely bring new cars, events, and improvements to the overall experience in Gran Turismo 7. But when is the next update expected to arrive?

We've got everything we need to know about Gran Turismo 7's May Update 1.48 right here!

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.48 release date speculation

Just like the trains in Japan, the Gran Turismo 7 monthly updates run like clockwork.

More often than not, they go live on the last Thursday of the month. They are also usually teased by Gran Turismo creator and Polyphony CEO Kazunori Yamauchi on X (Formerly known as Twitter) the weekend before.

April brought two updates, most notably Update 1.46, which included a new Vision GT car alongside two other vehicles. The full trailer for this is linked below:

Update 1.47 was released a week later to fix some of the quality of life and gameplay issues.

Going by past updates, Yamauchi will most likely reveal update 1.48 on the weekend of May 25/ 26. After that, update 1.48 is expected to go live on Thursday 30 May, but Polyphony has yet to confirm this.

New cars

Each monthly update usually includes three new GT7 cars, and while it's hard to speculate which cars will be included in this upcoming update, we can look to the past for an idea of what to expect.

April's update had the Skoda Vision GT, a classic American muscle car, and a prototype electric car made by none other than Sony themselves.

March's Update 1.44, added the Lamborghini Urus SUV, Audi TT sports car, and the incredible Toyota GT-One.

For February, there were sports cars from Audi and Mitsubishi as well as one of Renault's most compact cars ever.

So, predicting which cars will be in May's update is anybody's guess, but it should be another ecclectic mix.

Each monthly event usually includes a new GT Cafe Menu Book and World Circuits. Update 1.48 may add Extra Menu No. 39 and likely require players to reach Collector Level 39 to enter it.

Extra Menu No. 38 focussed on Ferraris with 12-cylinder engines and required you to reach Collector Level 38 and above to take part. There were also three new World Circuits events in April's update.

These were the Japanese Clubman Cup 550 around Alsace, the American FR Challenge 550 around Trial Mountain, and the Vision Gran Turismo Trophy at Grand Valley.

It's not known yet what the next Menu Book will add, but the new World Circuit Events will likely relate to the new cars featured update 1.48.

We usually get a new Scape to create new backdrops for photographs of your precious cars.

Fans will be hoping for a new circuit to race on as it's been six months since the Lake Shore circuit was added in Spec II.
