As expected, Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.26 is coming this week.
In his traditional weekend tweet, Kazunori Yamauchi gave the impending update a different name: 25th Anniversary Update.
This is a little odd as the anniversary doesn't arrive until 23 December, but we don't mind getting an early Christmas present. So what's in the update, and when will it arrive? Let's take a look!
Since publication the patch has arrived. You can check out all the changes in the Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.26 patch notes here.
Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.26
Thanks to Kaz's tweet, we already knew the 25th Anniversary Update is coming this week. And now an official blog post has revealed exactly what we can expect in the update.
Four new cars
According to a PlayStation blog post, Update 1.26 will add four new cars to GT7's roster.
These include the Gran Turismo Red Bull X2019 25th Anniversary Special Edition Race Car along with the BMW M2 Competition '18, Ford Sierra RS 500 Cosworth '87, and Nissan Silvia K's Aero (S14) '96.
Road Atlanta
Along with the four cars, Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is joining GT7's track lineup in update 1.26.
Built in 1970, the historic US road course is famous for hosting touring car and prototype car races as well as the 10-hour Petit Le Mans endurance.
While we were hoping to see a classic Gran Turismo track like Grand Valley Speedway or Clubman Stage Route 5 return in the 25th Anniversary update, this is a welcome addition.
New Illuminations and Road Atlanta Scapes locations are also coming in the update.
New option to sell cars
At long last, update 1.26 will add the ability to sell cars from your garage - a long-requested feature will be added in a future update way back in April.
However, PlayStation Blog notes you can only sell cars once the GT Cafe Menus are completed.
25th-anniversary celebrations
To celebrate Gran Turismo's 25th anniversary, the Gran Turismo World Series World Finals will be streamed live for the first time since 2019. During the event, Ferrari will unveil a new Vision GT car teased earlier this week.
In addition, the World Map will be updated with special races rewarding increased points. From 24 November to 5 December, Sport Mode race credit prizes will be up to five times higher.
Release date
Gran Turismo 7 update 1.26 will arrive on Thursday 24 November.
Before then, the servers will go down for maintenance on 23 November between 22:00 pm - 00:00 am PST / 24 November 06:00 am - 08:00 am GMT/UTC.
Any additional content?
Giving the next update a big name suggests that we will be getting more than just three cars and some bug fixes.
We are still expecting car sales to be added to GT7. This was featured in pre-release marketing for the game and is still not available.
However, it would be foolish to expect anything ground-breaking in this update. It could just be a few new GT Cafe Menu Books and that's it.
We will just have to wait and see and hope that Polyphony uses this update to push GT7 in a good direction. We'll find out more when the Gran Turismo 7 update 1.26 patch notes arrive tomorrow.
