iRacing: 2024 Season 2 patch notes

It’s not often fans want to see rain in racing, but that has been the case in iRacing for quite some time. After a few weather delays, the Tempest Weather System has finally arrived in iRacing as part of the 2024 Season 2 update.

Let’s take a look at what’s new in iRacing 2024 Season 2.

Racing in the rain

Rain in iRacing has been in the works for quite some time now. After a delay at the end of 2023, fans have had to wait a few more months for rain to hit iRacing, but the wait is now over.

The 2024 Season 2 updates includes the full Tempest Weather System, bringing an entirely new element to the game. Now, racers have to factor in weather changes when setting up for a race, with the track surface potentially changing drastically at any point during a stint.

Rain racing is very different from racing in the dry, so iRacing players now need to consider their driving style if the skies darken during a session. A heavy downpour and fog can also affect visibility, preventing drivers from seeing the road ahead.

It’s exciting to see weather finally coming to iRacing, but believe it or not that’s just a small part of what 2024 Season 2 has in store.

New arrivals

Alongisde the Tempest weather system, no less than three new tracks and three new cars arrive in iRacing as part of the 2024 Season 2 update.

On the car side, the Dirt Micro Sprint, SRX, and Super Formula Lights are included to bolster your driving offerings. All three come with iRacing’s new Damage Model straight out of the box, increasing the realism out on track.

First up is the Algarve International Circuit. Four configurations are included for the Portuguese circuit, including the Grand Prix and Moto layouts.

The other two new tracks are Millbridge Speedway and Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The latter has five configurations available, including the Grand Prix, Grand Prix - Historic, and Truck layouts.

Not only that, but Dirt Micro Sprint, Circuit de Ledenon, Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, Snetterton Circuit, and Winton Motor Raceway have all been added to the iRacing base package, making them free for all iRacing members.
