Along with your garage, you’re also equipped with a reconnaissance drone to scan the route ahead, as well as an echo-sounding scanner to check the depth of any bodies of water standing in your way. These tools are crucial to keeping the expedition safe and dry throughout its journey.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game comes with a list of missions, with entire expeditions taking place per map to keep you busy. In fact, there are over 100 hours worth of missions to complete, but for players looking to explore the map freely, how can you unlock free roam in the game?

How to unlock free roam in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game

With so many missions to complete, some players may want to explore the landscape first before taking on an expedition. For these players, however, we have some bad news.

To unlock free roam in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, you must first complete a list of missions on that map. These range from a single expedition to completing every mission on the map before it becomes available to explore.

To some players, this may seem like a bad thing, but we’re a fan of needing to unlock free roam. It gives players a reason to actually complete missions, unlock new equipment, and experience the game as intended.

To see which missions need to be finished before free roam unlocks, hover over the free roam option in the map menu. For some, you will need to follow a mission chain to discover exactly which missions need to be completed.

Once you’ve completed the required missions, you’ll be able to explore the map freely.
