Fortunately, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game allows you to find this equipment out in the wilderness, meaning you can leave more back at base and save money. To do this, you'll need a metal detector.

How to use the metal detector in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game
Before we show you how to use the metal detector, you need to make sure it is installed. This can be done in the setup screen before starting an expedition in the vehicle editor menu.
It’s important to note that most vehicles have a metal detector installed on the roof of the cab. This means selecting a metal detector will prohibit you from fixing anything else to the roof for that mission.
With the metal detector installed, you now need to know how to use it. When out in the field, the metal detector can be activated through the ‘devices’ screen. The vehicle must be completely stopped for the metal detector to be deployed, and you cannot drive or use the map while it is in use.
The metal detector can help you find three different types of supplies out in the wilderness. These are indicated by their own unique colour. Green represents upgrades, blue shows items, and red reveals resources.
These colours appear on the ground around your vehicle and on top of the metal detector, showing you which supplies are nearby.
The metal detector points you in the direction of each supply type and displays its name on-screen. However, it only works within a 200-metre range, so it’s best to drive around exploring, stopping every so often to activate the metal detector.
