Japanese Drift Master is a game that might have slipped under the radar for many, but the newest drifting title is making serious moves ahead of its release.

As well as taking you to the home of drifting, Japanese Drift Master will showcase true Japanese drifting pedigree thanks to their new licence with Subaru.

The home of drifting

Japan has long been hailed as the birthplace of drifting. Films such as The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift demonstrate the passionate car culture in the land of the Rising Sun, and now Japanese Drift Masters is here to show off the culture to the gaming world.

Featuring an open world full of drifting opportunities, Japanese Drift Master is set along the shores of the incredible Haikama Lake. Although a fictional location, Haikama Lake is based on the real Japanese countryside that birthed the drifting phenomenon.

In addition to enjoying events in the open world, players can fine-tune their drifting machines to give them a unique character. Kicking up that tyre smoke has never felt so personalised as once you’ve customised your car in Japanese Drift Master.

Although a release date is still yet to be confirmed, there’s still big news coming out of the world of Japanese Drift Master.

Subaru joins the drift

Japanese Drift Master has announced that Subaru will be in the game at launch. The Japanese car manufacturer is the first to be added to the game. Hopefully, this is just the start of famous drift makers joining the game as it slides towards its launch.

Speaking of its release, more information has also been revealed on when we can get behind the wheel of Japanese Drift Master. Japanese Drift Master: Rise of the Scorpion will launch in Summer 2024 on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. This will serve as an introduction to the game, introducing players to the world of drifting.

With the story guided by Japanese manga boards, this prologue will tell the story of the ‘Scorpion’ featured in the game and will include an extra map area, a new car, and exclusive events.

Once the prologue is released, it’ll only be a matter of time before the tyre smoke clears on a release date for the full game.
