If you're a fan of supercross, then chances are you're also a fan of the Monster Energy Supercross franchise.
You're in luck, as the fifth instalment of the title is on the way. With a host of new features and a release date that's a lot sooner than we thought, we couldn't be more excited.
So, let's take a closer look at Monster Energy Supercross 5 now!
Review
After being announced last year, Monster Energy Supercross 5 is out now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One for those who preordered the Special Edition. The PC and standard versions will follow on 17 March.
Thanks to new tutorials, Monster Energy Supercross 5 is more accessible to newcomers than past entries in Milestone's series. There's still a steep learning curve though, as injuries can affect your rider's performance in the new Rider Shape System.
There are also tweaks to the bike handling, but do these changes warrant a purchase if you already own Monster Energy Supercross 4? Find out in our Monster Energy Supercross 5 review.
Release Date
The game is scheduled to release in early 2022, on March 17. This means we have just over 5 months to wait until we can get our hands on the game.

This is awesome news for fans of the games, as there isn't long to wait at all.
Unlike most game releases at the moment, which are announced over a year in advance at times, it's refreshing to see one so soon. Now, we hope it isn't delayed at all!
Features
One of the most exciting new features coming to the game is the Rider Shape System. This will shape the way your career mode plays out by affecting your rider's performance after falls or injuries.
This also adds the ability to train and complete specific tasks which will speed up recovery and have you in top form.
There is also the Future Academy for newcomers to the series, so anyone can play. The game also now comes with 2-stroke bikes which are available in all modes.
Finally, we've got Rythm Section Editor and Compound. The Section Editor will allow players to mix and match pre-existing modules to design their own tracks.
Compound is the new open-world element of the latest Monster Energy Supercross game. You can race here with friends or solo, and there will be everything from new tracks to collectibles.
Platforms
The game will be available on all major platforms.
This means you'll be able to play on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, Windows PC, and Steam. For those who buy the version of the game for the PS4, there is a free upgrade to PS5, so no worries there!
