Exciting news karting fans: players can get a sneak peek at Stampede: Racing Royale on Xbox via the Insider Program. Now players on Microsoft’s console can join the karting chaos in Stampede: Racing Royale.

Stampede: Racing Royale answers the question: what would happen if Mario Kart was a battle royale game? Players jump into racing lobbies of up to 60 racers for the ultimate racing eliminator.
During three rounds, players must race to avoid being knocked off the grid. The leader after the three rounds takes the ultimate racing glory.
Powerups dotted around each track will help you conquer your other racers, with players not fancying the race able to take part in arena karting battles instead. Stampede: Racing Royale roared onto PC for playtests in 2023, and Xbox players can try the battle-royale kart racer.
Stampede: Racing Royale speeds into Xbox Insider Program
Stampede: Racing Royale is now available to play on Xbox Series X|S as part of the Xbox Insider Program. The game is also available on PC via the Microsoft Store and Xbox Insiders app.
That’s not even the best part. As the game is still a work in progress, players on Xbox and PC can download it for free.
In response to player feedback, Sumo Leamington has added new features to the work-in-progress playtest including new maps, Challenges and Special Events, a Zombie Battle mode, and over 450 customisation items.
Insider Program players will also receive an exclusive in-game customisation item when the game enters Early Access.
There is one small catch, however. Although anyone with an Xbox account can play, the Insider Program version will be limited to only 50k players, so you need to get in quickly to avoid disappointment.
How to play Stampede: Racing Royale for free
For players ready to go karting, here’s how to download and play Stampede: Racing Royale:
- Open the Xbox Insider Hub on your Xbox Series X|S or Windows PC.
- Navigate to Previews > Stampede: Racing Royale
- Select Join.
- Wait for registration to complete, and you should be directed to the correct Store Page to install the preview.
Now you’re ready for the racing carnage to begin!
Stampede: Racing Royale is still on track to enter Early Access in the first half of 2024, but the release date has yet to be confirmed.
PC was previously the only confirmed platform, but the Insider Program playtest confirms Stampede: Racing Royale is heading to Xbox. It's still not known if the kart racer will also be available on PlayStation and Nintendo platforms.
