Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator: New trailer shows off taxi management

We’re now just over a week away from gaining our Barcelona taxi licence, with the latest Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator trailer introducing us to managing a taxi company in the Catalan city.

Let’s break down the new Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator trailer.

Advice from Diego

The trailer opens with our guide, Diego, introducing himself and welcoming us to the Barcelona taxi life. Diego is a fountain of information, teaching us about everything from the various types of passengers we’ll be transporting, to even how to allocate the best taxis to our fellow drivers.

The best takeaway from this trailer is vehicle management. Assigning vehicles based on routes is crucial when it comes to running a successful taxi company. Maintaining your car is also just as important, with no passenger wanting to be left stranded when your taxi runs out of fuel.

Passengers are also particular about the appearance of your taxi, so it’s best to keep it as clean as possible, as you will pick up dust and dirt while driving around the city.

Keeping your fare happy

Just like we saw in the last trailer, this Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator trailer shows us how passengers are key when it comes to being a cabbie.

Every passenger you pick up will have certain needs you have to meet, otherwise they’ll become unhappy. These needs range from needing to get somewhere as fast as possible, to needing to drive slowly and safely at all times.

For the speedy passengers, it’s up to you to get them where they need to be on time, without attracting the attention of the police. Speeding or erratic driving around the streets will result in unwanted attention, so be careful out there - this isn't Crazy Taxi.

As for the cautious ones, you’d better keep that speed needle as close to zero as you can, and always indicate before turning!

Finally, the trailer introduces us to our fellow taxi drivers, including how to hire, assign, and schedule your staff. After this tour from Diego, we’re definitely ready to hop in our car and start the meter.
