The Long Beach Grand Prix has been on the IndyCar calendar every year since 1984. The event goes back even further than that though, having originally being on the Formula 1 calendar since 1976.
The race has been an eventful one for both categories, as drivers push to, and occasionally beyond, the limits of their cars.
When it comes to the most successful drivers in Long Beach during the CART/IndyCar era, there are a few familiar names that have won the most races. Al Unser Jr. holds the records for wins here with six.
The Great Mario Andretti won four Long Beach Grands Prix, three of them coming in CART. Other repeat winners include Sebastian Bordais (3), Michael Andretti (2) and Alex Zanardi (2).
On the current grid, Alex Rossi and Will Power are the only repear winners, with two each. Colton Herta and Josef Newgarden are the two most recent winners, in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
