Hot Wheels Unleashed free to download on PlayStation Plus in October

Sony has unveiled October’s free PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup – and racing game fans are in for a treat.

Hot Wheels Unleashed free on PlayStation Plus in October

Almost exactly one year after its release in September last year, Hot Wheels Unleashed will be free to download for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers in October. This includes both the PS5 and PS4 versions.

Joining Hot Wheels Unleashed are two PS4 games: Injustice 2 and Superhot. All three games are available to download from 4 October to 1 November.

Developed by Milestone (the same Italian studio behind the MotoGP, MXGP, and Monster Energy Supercross bike series), Hot Wheels Unleashed launched last year for consoles and PC.

The arcade racer lets you live out your childhood dreams of racing on giant Hot Wheels tracks in accurately modelled diecast cars. Two-player split-screen is also supported or you can race up to 12 opponents online.

You can even build your own tracks using the track creator, adding loops, boosters, obstacles and special elements to create the craziest courses possible. These creations can then be shared online for other players to try.

Hot Wheels Unleashed Passes

Since it launched last year, Hot Wheels Unleashed has expanded considerably with new content. There have been three Hot Wheels Unleashed Pass volumes, adding new cars based on licenses such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, DC, and Street Fighter, along with customisation packs, builder modules, and expansions.

None of the DLC is included in the free PlayStation Plus download, sadly. Nevertheless, this is a great opportunity to try Milestone’s acclaimed arcade racer if you haven’t already.
