After several playtests, Stampede: Racing Royale is now live on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Windows PC via Xbox Game Preview, allowing players to enjoy some chaotic 60-player kart racing action.
Developed by Sumo Leamington, Stampede: Racing Royale is a fast-paced, free-to-play kart racer with a battle royale twist. Over three rounds, up to 60 players battle it out and avoid elimination until the last player is standing.
Free-to-play on PC and Xbox with no Game Pass subscription required, the Xbox Game Preview lets players enjoy chaotic three-round elimination matches and Battle and Zombie modes in limited-time Special Events. Players can also customize their kart and character with a range of items earned from XP in races.
Early Access version still in development
Meanwhile, Sumo Leamington continues to work on the Steam Early Access version following several public playtests. The early access build was slated for a summer release, but a release date has yet to be confirmed.
“We are also continuing to work hard on bringing Stampede to Steam in Early Access, following our previous playtests. “We apologize for not having a timeframe at this point, and will update you as soon as we possibly can on a Steam Early Access launch,” Sumo Leamington explained in a blog post.
In the meantime, PC players on Windows can download and play Stampede: Racing Royale (Game Preview) from the Microsoft Store. This is just the start, with Sumo Leamington planning to add more content in future Season updates.
It’s been a long time since Mario Kart has had a new challenger, so we’re eager to find out if Stampede: Racing Royale can shake up the kart racing genre.
