With the summer break still ongoing, Codemasters are taking us all the way back to Azerbaijan for the latest F1 23 F1 Replay. The race in Baku this year wasn’t the most entertaining, but still threw up some interesting results. Sergio Perez claimed his second win of the season, Charles Leclerc picked up his first podium of 2023, and Oscar Piastri finished narrowly outside the points despite suffering from illness.
There are many opportunities to rewrite the result of the 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Who will you choose to take to success in the F1 23 Azerbaijan Grand Prix F1 Replay?
F1 Replay heads to Baku
This year’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix was the fourth race of the season. Featuring the new format sprint race, the weekend overall was eventful but this didn’t exactly cross over to the race itself, sadly.
Nyck de Vries retired after hitting the wall, and Zhou Guanyu was forced to pull over with mechanical issues. Besides those incidents, the only real edge-of-your-seat moment was Esteban Ocon dodging photographers as he came into the pits on the final lap.
Pole-sitter Charles Leclerc picked up his first podium of the season, but couldn’t challenge the Red Bulls at the front. Surprisingly though, it was Sergio Perez who took the victory after Max Verstappen fell foul of the safety car after de Vries’ collision.
So with many scenarios to choose from, here are our picks for which drivers to steer through the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Right the wrongs
First up is Charles Leclerc. Sitting on pole for the first time in 2023, Leclerc very quickly lost the lead once DRS was enabled. There’s a great opportunity to take the Monegasque to victory around the streets of Baku and beat the Bulls.
Next up is Fernando Alonso. Alonso sending it up the inside of Carlos Sainz into Turn 4 on the safety car restart definitely added some excitement to an otherwise mundane race. Alonso finished the race in fourth, less than a second from Leclerc on the podium, so there’s a really good chance to snatch third from the Ferrari driver.
Finally, we have Oscar Piastri. Coming off the back of his first F1 points in Australia, Piastri was struck down with food poisoning in Baku. His condition definitely affected him in the race, colliding with Alex Albon on the first lap and ultimately finishing just outside the points.
This is arguably the biggest challenge in this F1 Replay. Keeping a struggling McLaren in the points positions for the duration of the Grand Prix without any crashes. Just be glad you’re not suffering in the car too.
