Assetto Corsa Competizione's recent 1.9 update brought substantial physics changes to the GT World Challenge racing simulator back in April. However, the update was only available for PC players, with no word on a console release date.
Assetto Corsa Competizione console updates usually arrive much later, but update 1.9 is launching sooner than expected.
Happily, Kunos Simulazioni has announced the Assetto Corsa Competizione 1.9 update is coming to consoles next week along with the 2023 GT World Challenge Pack.
Assetto Corsa Competizione 1.9 update and DLC coming soon to consoles
Thanks to a collaboration between Kunos Simulazioni, 505 Games and Untold Games, Assetto Corsa Competizione’s highly anticipated 1.9 update is launching next week on 27 June for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. At the same time, the 2023 GT World Challenge DLC pack will also be out on consoles.
This is much sooner than the last major update – it took eight months for the 1.8 update to come to consoles. Originally launched on PC in April, the 2023 GT World Challenge pack will also launch on the same day.
Physics changes
As with the PC update, the 1.9 update brings some significant physics changes, so you may need to adjust your setups. According to a blog post, the update introduces a “wider pressure range and temperature operation window, revolutionising the way you interact with your vehicle.”
The suspension system has also been revamped, resulting in “better mechanical grip, predictable handling, reduced heat stress on tires, and a more stable aerodynamic balance.” There are also further improvements to tyre model, force feedback, and traction control logic.
New DLC
All recent DLC is also coming to consoles on 27 June. The 2023 GT World Challenge Pack adds the Ferrari 296 GT3, Lamborghini Huracàn EVO2, and Porsche 911 GT3 R, along with the Circuit Ricardo Tormo and a new Open Series section featuring the official 2023 GT World Challenge season.
Console pricing is yet to be confirmed, but the PC 2023 GT World Challenge Pack costs £10.99/$12.99.
In addition, the McLaren 720S GT3 EVO previously released in a free PC update is coming to consoles alongside the updated Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO. With the physics update and DLC, the console versions will be on par with Assetto Corsa Competizione on PC.
