Autobianchi A112 Bertone concept coming to Gran Turismo

Last weekend, Kazunori Yamauchi teased three new cars coming to Gran Turismo 7 this week in update 1.20. While not confirmed, the three new cars appear to be the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, Pontiac GTO, and the McLaren MP4/4 Formula 1 car.

Looking ahead, the 2022 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance previewed another car coming to Gran Turismo in the future.

Since 2008, Kazunori has been on the judging panel at the prestigious Concours event. This year’s overall winner was a 1932 Duesenberg J Figoni Sports Torpedo.

Every year, Kazunori also picks a unique car to win the Gran Turismo Trophy special award, with the winning car eventually appearing in a Gran Turismo game. There have been 13 Gran Turismo Trophy cars and the latest is the Autobianchi A112 Runabout.

Developed by Bertone and designed by Marcello Gandini who penned the design of the Lamborghini Countach, the Autobianchi A112 Concept is a two-seater, mid-engined car with a distinctive wedge shape.

It was originally designed to replace the Bertone-made FIAT 850 Spider. Ultimately, the one-off concept it never made it to production, but it did inspire the design of Bertone’s Fiat X1/9 as well as the iconic Lancia Stratos. Over 50 years later, the only way to drive the Autobianchi A112 Runabout will be in Gran Turismo.

When is the Autobianchi A112 Concept coming to Gran Turismo?

Exactly when the Autobianchi A112 Runabout will arrive in Gran Turismo is unknown.

Going by past Gran Turismo Trophy winners, it could take several years – the Maserati A6GCS Spider was 2014’s winner, but only appeared in GT7 last month in update 1.19. This means it may not arrive in GT7 and appear in a future Gran Turismo game instead.
