After announcing Donington Park this week, Studio 397 has confirmed another famous British circuit is coming to rFactor 2 next month. Announced in a blog post, Brands Hatch will be added to rFactor 2’s track roster as part of the Q2 Content Drop in May.
Brands Hatch coming to rFactor 2
Located in West Kingsdown, England, Brands Hatch opened in 1950. The circuit has hosted 12 Formula One races and currently hosts the British Touring Car Championship and GT World Challenge Europe among other racing series.
rFactor 2 will include the current Grand Prix and Indy layouts. The challenging Grand Prix version measures 2.433-miles long with nine corners included, while the Indy layout incorporates six turns and is 1.208-miles long.
Brands Hatch appears in many modern racing games from Gran Turismo 7 to Assetto Corsa Competizione and iRacing. But thanks to new laser scans, Studio 397 is confident rFactor 2’s recreation of the British circuit will be the “most immersive, realistic and accurate representation of the track possible.”
Q2 content drop
rFactor 2’s Q2 content drop is shaping up to be a massive update for the PC racing simulator. Not only will it add Donington Park and Brands Hatch to rFactor 2, but it will also feature new engine sound, improved particle effects, and more realistic rain weather. These updates are previewed in the rFactor 2 April Release Candidate.
There’s no release date for the Q2 content drop, but we shouldn’t have to wait much longer. Studio 397 has confirmed the Q2 update will roll out in May, with more content announcements coming soon in the run-up to release.
