Charming top-down racer Circuit Superstars screeches onto PS4

After spending a few months in Steam Early Access, Circuit Superstars was released on PC and Xbox One last October to rave reviews. PlayStation players had to wait a little longer, but the wait is now over as Circuit Superstars is out now on PS4.

The charming top-down indie racer is also playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility.

Developed by Canadian indie studio Original Fire Gamesand published by Square Enix, Circuit Superstars is a fun little indie racer that combines stylised top-down graphics with surprisingly deep driving physics.

Circuit Superstars is a celebration of motorsport “built by racing fans, for racing fans.” With a broad range of disciplines including Rallycross, Open wheel single-seaters, SuperTrucks, GT racing, and Eurotrucks, there’s a racing style to suit everyone’s taste.

PS4 players can now enjoy some top-down racing fun in Circuit Superstars

There are 12 vehicles to choose from, each with unique handling and customisable liveries, as well as 19 tracks set in 13 locations. Pit stop strategies are also pivotal for success. Thanks to cross-play support, PS4 players can race online against PC and Xbox players.

We found that Circuit Superstars excels in time trial mode. Thanks to its intuitive controls, trying to set the fastest lap times is satisfying and addictive. There’s even a Top Gear Time Attack mode featuring a recreation of the famous Top Gear test track.

Circuit Superstars PS4 price

Available to download now on the PS Store, the PS4 version of Circuit Superstars is priced at £15.99. A Nintendo Switch version is also planned for Q2, 2022.

Original Fire Games plans to support Circuit Superstars in 2022 and beyond. Future updates will add reverse tracks, the ability to slipstream opponents, and private lobbies in online multiplayer.
