Gran Turismo 7 will be released next year, a recent trailer for the game has confirmed. GT7 was originally meant to be a launch title for the PlayStation 5, but has since been delayed multiple times.
The Real Driving Simulator will be coming next year to next-gen though, but what about old-gen? Well, it may surprise you to find out you don't have to upgrade your hardware to enjoy GT7.
No longer PS5 only
It had been rumoured for months, but we got confirmation earlier this year that GT7 will be released on both PlayStation 4 and 5 next March. Whether Polyphony can make the most of this is yet to be seen, as they've never released a GT that spans generations like this before.
So, in short, there will be both PS4 and PS5 disc and downloadable versions of GT7 when the game releases next year. You will not be able to play your PS5 disc using your PS4 though. However, the reverse will work, so a PS4 disc can be played using a PS5.
Why has GT7 become available on PS4?
It looked for all the world that GT7 would be a next-gen PS5 exclusive. The longer GT7 was delayed though, the more little titbits of information and rumours surfaced. So, why has GT7 become available on the PS4?
Well, it's largely down to the shortage of PlayStation 5 consoles that has been going on ever since the console launched last year. This shows no sign of letting up, as the demand for PS5's has surprised everybody, including Sony.
Despite the PS5 being the fastest-selling PlayStation ever, the amount of consoles produced has been nowhere near enough. So, Polyphony took the decision to also release GT7 on PS4, so a large portion of the fanbase isn't left unable to play GT7.
How GT7 will perform on the PS4 system is hard to say, but Polyphony is owned by Sony, so they know the console inside and out.
