The new teaser trailer for Drive to Survive Season 6 has landed, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. From epic crashes to friction within teams, let’s take a look at just what the new trailer shows.
Bringing the action
2023 was a year full of F1 action. Although Max Verstappen totally dominated on the track, away from the circuits, plenty happened too. From Lance Stroll’s remarkable recovery from injury to make the first race in Bahrain, to the Nyck de Vries saga, there was never a dull moment in motorsport’s pinnacle series.
The teaser tries to cram as many of these events as possible into its short running time. Opening on a shot of the soon-to-be-joining Ferrari Lewis Hamilton, Nyck de Vries’ voice can be heard describing a Formula 1 driver.
With de Vries failing to make the halfway point of 2023 before AlphaTauri pulled the plug, it’s hard to remember him even in the car at the start of last year.
We then see Lance Stroll being strapped up on the eve of the Bahrain Grand Prix. After sustaining multiple injuries in a bicycle crash, including breaking both wrists, the Canadian showed his true resilience to not only climb into the car on the opening weekend but actually complete the race also.
Dramatic racing
The trailer then switches to the drama at Alpine. Former team principal Otmar Szafnauer is shown, before the trailer cuts to Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. The two French drivers aren’t known to be the best of friends, with their on-track disappointments in 2023 ultimately costing Szafnauer his job.
Speaking of departing team principals, everyone’s favourite rockstar Guenther Steiner is shown and heard, with the former Haas boss exclaiming he is ‘done’, possibly with his role. Arguably the saddest news in the off-season was the departure of Drive to Survive’s biggest star, with fans now needing a new cult hero to follow from the show.
We also see Carlos Sainz reacting to another disappointment, George Russell angrily striking his stricken car in Singapore, other crashes and bumps throughout the year, and of course the return of Daniel Ricciardo.
Despite mixed reviews over the last couple of seasons, F1 Drive to Survive Season 6 looks to be a return to form. This is in spite of the lack of excitement in the 2023 season itself.
