F1 2021 has been a breath of fresh air for race fans.
With a new handling model, updated physics, and new challenges for everyone, it has provided a steep learning curve for drivers.
This is thanks to setups having to be radically different to suit the new game. Fortunately, we've been hard at work creating stable and reliable setups for you!
F1 2021 China setup
Shanghai was cut from the 2021 calendar due to covid. However, with part of Braking Point taking place at the Chinese GP it was left in the game, a fun bonus for players.
The circuit won't be in the first season for My Team or Career Mode, but you can add it back to the calendar from Season 2 onward.
Aerodynamics
With two hugely long corners and a few very slow ones, aero balance is crucial for China.
We've gone with 5-9 wings. This will give the car good predictability and stability through the two long right-handers and get the front into the slower corners.
Transmission
This part of the setup establishes how power is pushed to the rear wheels and into the tarmac.
We've gone with 70% on-throttle differential to give good drive out of the corners. You can bump this up for qualifying, but keep it at 70% for the races to help protect tyre performance.
Off-throttle is set to 55% to give good rotation into the corners.
Suspension Geometry
This part of the setup describes how the wheels are aligned with the body of the car.
We've gone with full right on the front camber and full left on the rear.
Front toe gets a click to 0.06, and rear camber is set fully left.
Suspension
This part of the setup is the most personal, as it reacts to driving style and can create oversteer or understeer.
We've gone with 3-5 on the suspension and 4-4 for the anti-roll bars. This will keep the car balanced at all points. The softer anti-roll bars will save some tyre life through those extended corners.
Ride height is set to 3-7, to allow for some kerb taking.
Brakes
There aren't any tricky braking zones in Shanghai.
As a result, we've gone with 100% brake pressure and 56% brake bias. This will give you great stopping power into the hairpin at the end of the lap and should prevent any lockups.
If you are locking up, drop the brake pressure a touch.
Tyres
Tyres are a bit different this year over F1 2020.
We've gone with 22.2psi on the fronts and 23.5psi on the rears. This will keep the car gripped up through those long corners and stable at the rear.
We are continually testing and updating our setups so be sure to bookmark this page and check back regularly!
