The Circuit de Barcelona-Cataluyna is a well-known track, but it has been reworked for the new Formula 1 game, meaning the F1 22 Spain setup is more important than ever.

This setup has been updated for patch 1.06 handling change

F1 22 Spain setup

The Spanish Grand Prix is a war of attrition thanks to high tyre wear and very few overtaking opportunities.

It's technical nature makes for an extremely demanding race, so the right setup is crucial to any success.

Aerodynamics

The Spanish circuit needs plenty of downforce, but too much and you won't have a high enough top speed to make moves into turn 1.

We've gone with 36-34 wings. This will let you keep your foot down through the long corners but make sure you are fast enough down the pit straight.

Transmission

This part of the setup dictates how power is transferred into the rear wheels.

The 55% on-throttle differential provides some stability to the rear end when exiting corners and getting the power down.

The 50% off-throttle differential gives plenty of rotation when turning in, especially useful for the final few corners.

Suspension geometry

The suspension geometry meta hasn't changed much in F1 22.

We've gone with -2.50 front camber and -1.00 rear camber, along with 0.05 front toe and 0.20 rear toe.

Suspension

This is one of the most personal parts of the setup, but these settings should keep you competitive.

We've gone with 7-1 on the suspension and 7-1 on the anti-roll bars.

This keeps the front-end super responsive while not stressing the rear tyres too much.

Ride height is set to 7-5 to give some extra bite, especially through the final sector where you can ride the kerbs a bit more, just watch out for the sausage kerbs!

Brakes

There aren't many big stops around a lap of the Spanish GP, but that doesn't mean you can forget about this part of the setup.

We've gone with 100% brake pressure and 50% brake bias for maximum stopping power.

If you are finding yourself locking up too regularly then drop the brake pressure a touch.

Tyres

Pirelli's new 18" tyres are a learning curve for everyone.

We've found some joy with 22.5 psi on the front tyres and 21.3 psi on the rears. It gives a good balance between grip and wear.
