After months of speculation and waiting, F1 23 is finally here!
The official Formula 1 game for the 2023 season has hit physical and digital shelves around the world and on multiple systems.
It used to be the case that if you played on a different console from your friends, you wouldn't be able to play online multiplayer with them. That isn't the case anymore though, as crossplay has almost become a staple of top racing games.
So, with that in mind, we're here to show you how to enable cross-play in F1 23!
How to enable cross-play in F1 23
When you boot up F1 23 for the first time, you'll have a plethora of options and game settings to configure before diving into the game itself.
One of these is cross-play, but it is an easy one to miss and you can always change your mind.
The quickest way to enable cross-play in F1 23 is to head to the game's main menu. From there, head over to the options and go into settings. You'll now be able to see the crossplay button in the bottom-right of the screen, go there.
In that menu, you'll be presented with two options that you can either enable or disable. The first is crossplay and if you want to turn that on, enable it. Alternatively, if you don't, then disable it.
The second option is related to invite and request to join notifications, which your friends can send you if you have enabled. If you don't want to be disturbed, disable it.
What is cross-play?
Simply put, cross-play allows you to play the same game as other players on other consoles. So, for example, you could be playing on PS5 and with cross-play, your friends on PC and Xbox can race in the same lobbies as you.
Cross-play made its debut in the F1 game series in F1 22, when it was added as a post-launch feature.
F1 23 has had cross-play since its release day and this has been rolled out to many aspects of online multiplayer. This includes everything from online racing lobbies to two-player co-op Career Mode.
