As the sun sets on another Formula 1 season, thereās one last chance for the F1 23 driver ratings to change. Decemberās update sees 2023 end with a resurgence for Ferrari, especially for Charles Leclerc.
Letās take a look at the F1 23 December Driver ratings.
Leclerc recovers
After a mixed season, Charles Leclerc recovered well in December. His late-season surge wasn't quite enough to secure P2 for Ferrari in the constructor's championship, but it did lead to some incredible racing.
His last-lap lunge on Sergio Perez has seen both his racecraft and pace increase by one. With respective stats of 94 and 90, this boosts his overall rating up by one to 90, level with teammate Carlos Sainz.
Elsewhere on the grid, Lando Norris' end-of-year blip has seen his pace drop by two. Even with a boost to his experience and racecraft, this sadly still sees his overall rating drop down to 88.
Lando's teammate finishes 2023 on a high, however. Oscar Piastri has had the dream rookie season, scoring the most points in a debut season since Lewis Hamilton in 2007. With a boost of one to his experience and a boost of two to his racecraft and pace, his overall rating has increased to a mighty 85.
December's losers are Kevin Magnussen and Logan Sargeant. Despite securing a seat at Williams for 2024, Sargeant has seen his overall rating drop by two to 69. A massive decrease of five in his racecraft is the main culprit for this.
As for Magnussen, his Haas let him down this year. Promising Saturdays never quite resulted in rewarding Sundays, and that's reflected in his overall fall to 78. Like Sargeant, this is down to a major slash in his racecraft, dropping by four to 68.
