F1 23 Spain setup

F1 23 Spain setup

Previously the home of pre-season testing, Barcelona isn't always the most popular track on the F1 calendar. Our F1 23 Spain setup however will soon make you love the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya!

With F1 24 right around the corner, now's the best time to get those final laps in ahead of this year's release.

Update: If you're looking for F1 24 setups, you can find the best F1 24 Spain setup here.

F1 23 Spain setup

The Spanish Grand Prix has been hosted at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya since 1992. Even with the new layout compared to F1 22, overtaking is still not guaranteed.

You need an F1 23 Spain setup that will give you a good qualifying pace and a tyre edge to make the right strategy calls. Luckily for you, we have an updated Spain setup right here.

Aerodynamics

We've gone with 36-34 for the aerodynamics setup.

This will let you keep your foot in around the long corners without worrying too much about the back end.

Transmission

You need a 50% on-throttle and 55% off-throttle for your differentials.

This will deliver enough rotation in the corners without causing any instability when getting back on the power.

Suspension geometry

You should be running -2.50 on the front camber and -1.00 for the rear camber. This maximises speed on the streets whilst still assisting with cornering.

Then it is 0.02 for the front toe and 0.18 for the rear toe. This generates the required heat for the tyres down the DRS straights.

Suspension

For this setup we've gone with 28-7 for the suspension and 7-2 for the anti-roll bars. This gives enough of a stiff front end to get the nose into the corners and help get you around this lap at a good pace.

We've gone with 36-40 for the ride height. There's a good amount of kerb at Spain, which means we have to raise the floor to avoid damage affecting performance.

Brakes

We recommend 100% brake pressure and 53% brake bias.

This gives the necessary braking force without causing inconvenient lockups.

Tyres

We've gone with 22.5 PSI on the front tyres and 20.2 PSI on the rears.

Spain is pretty hard on the tyres and this setting will protect them from the worst of the thermal degredation.

Adjustments

These setups are intended for intermediate players who may still be using assists like traction control and ABS. However, if you are looking for an extra edge then you can try a few of these adjustments:

  • Decrease the wing levels by 1-3 clicks to improve top speed
    • This will make the car less capable on turn-in and less stable in high-speed direction changes
  • If the car doesn't feel like it is doing what you want on turn-in then raise the front wing a click or two
  • If the car is too loose at low speeds try moving the off-throttle differential for more stability
  • For a more "pointy" car stiffen the front suspension & anti-roll bar
    • This will make getting traction trickier
  • Don't be afraid to move brake bias during the lap. More frontward will give better performance in heavy braking zones, and a rearward for lighter braking zones
    • Lockups are easier to achieve in F1 23 than previous games. Front locking is less catastrophic than rear locking, and which way you go from our mark will increase your chances of a lockup in that direction
  • Add a click of tyre pressure for short online races to improve tyre warm-up!
