After last weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix saw Carlos Sainz secure his first victory in over a year, EA has started the week with a new F1 23 patch. Update 1.12 brings several fixes and tweaks for F1 World and reverts the Ferrari livery back to its flagship red.
Unfortunately, frustrated players are reporting the latest F1 23 patch is causing new problems after fixing old ones.
F1 23’s equal performance is broken
Since installing the patch, several players have had their custom control settings reset. This is frustrating as it means settings like force feedback that take time to painstakingly test and configure have disappeared.
“You’re joking if that happened I’ll be cheesed,” a Reddit user wrote on the F1Game subreddit. “I’ve been tweaking my ffb settings for months now and have just gotten them to be almost perfect.”
It gets worse. Users are also reporting that update 1.12 has broken F1 23’s equal performance. Available in F1 World multiplayer races and co-op career mode, equal performance ensures that car’s aerodynamics, engines, and other components are equally balanced. This helps create an even playing field in league racing, meaning players have to rely on their driving skills to win.
Players are reporting that update 1.12 has slowed down AlphaTauri cars in qualifying and created unequal downforce. On X (formerly known as Twitter), the PSGL announced tonight’s F1 league races will be run with the F1 World Multiplayer car as a result of the bug. A decision about the rest of this week’s races will be made “in due course.”
It’s an embarrassing situation for EA and frustrating for F1 23 players. Let’s these issues are resolved in a hotfix soon. This isn’t the first time this has happened either.
Another post-release bug caused a bug where tyre wear was different for each team even with equal performance enabled. It took over a week for this bug to be squashed in a patch update, so players may have to wait a while for this latest equal performance issue to be fixed.
