F1 Manager 2023 already on sale

F1 Manager 2023 has been out for just over a month, and yet the game is already on sale on Steam. With sales rumoured to be lower this year and players already flocking back to last year’s title, things aren’t looking good for F1 Manager 2023 already.

F1 Manager 2023 goes on sale

F1 Manager 2023’s Steam listing already has the game heavily discounted. Between 1 and 5 September, the Standard Edition is on sale for £38.24. This shows a 15% discount on the usual price. Console versions remain at full price at the time of writing following F1 Manager 2023's physical release.

As for the Deluxe Edition, it’s an even bigger saving. The price has dropped from £54.99 to £41.24, a 25% decrease from the usual price.

It’s unusual to see the game discounted so heavily, but it’s sadly not a surprise. F1 Manager 2023 has struggled to get off the grid, with sales reportedly lower than F1 Manager 2022 last year. As well as that, players are starting to migrate back to the franchise’s first title, with average player counts for F1 Manager 2022 higher than F1 Manager 2023.

Slow off the line

Considering the fact F1 Manager 2023 is an evolution from last year, rather than a revolution, it makes sense for many players to be upset about the lack of new features. However, what is new this year is impressive.

Driver confidence, pit crew training, a new tyre temperature system, and driver instructions mean every race is unpredictable. The DRS trains of last year are no more, with the aggressive driver orders resulting in more overtake attempts.

Sadly, though, this doesn’t appear to be enough to win over players.

F1 Manager 2023 Update 1.6 finally adds team switching

Update 1.6 to F1 Manager 2023 also arrived this week. While many players will be happy to see the board expectations for Mercedes, Alfa Romeo and AlphaTauri adjusted to prevent firings, it’s another new feature that’s winning the headlines.

Players no longer need to fear getting the sack, as team switching has arrived as part of the update. Now players receive a Team Principal overall rating on their profiles.

Achieving objectives with your current team sees your rating increase. Falling short of targets will see your overall rating decrease.

At the end of each season, your rating will determine which teams want to hire you. A high rating will open the door for a dream move up the grid. A lower rating will result in only the backmarkers wanting your signature.

With more at stake than ever before, it’s time to read those board objectives very carefully.
