F1 Manager 2023: Best Race Engineers
Race Engineers are one of the most visible staff members in a Formula 1 team. Race Engineers provide the crucial link between the Strategists and Team Principals to the driver out on track.
All of the information from the team to the drivers is funnelled through the Race Engineers. The feedback from the driver also goes through the Race Engineer, so communication is a key attribute of Race Engineers.
So, Communication, Feedback and Composure are the attributes which make up Race Engineers' Overall ratings.
Communication displays the ability to speak clearly and effectively with both the driver and the wider team. This will determine how fast affinity grows between the driver and their engineer.
Feedback determines how well Race Engineers understand feedback from the driver and other engineers on the car's setup. A higher Feedback rating means your setups will improve as well.
Lastly, Composure sets how well-focused your Race Engineer is in high-pressure situations. A higher stat in this means mistakes are less likely to happen and the driver has more confidence in their engineer.
Driver Affinity improves the driver's and engineer's morale, which makes renewing drivers' contracts easier and cheaper. The most important attribute of these is Feedback, so look for a high Feedback rating in our table.
You'll need to employ two Race Engineers for your team, as you require one for each of your two drivers. Here are the top five Race Engineers at the start of F1 Manager 2023!
Ben Mitchell
With an overall rating of 87, Aston Martin's Ben Mitchell is the fifth-highest-rated Race Engineer in F1 Manager 2023. Mitchell has been Lance Stroll's Race Engineer since 2021.
Mitchell's best stat is an incredible 96 Composure, meaning he can handle any situation in the heat of the moment.
His other attributes are 84 Communication and 80 Feedback.
Marcus Dudley
Marcus Dudley is Mercedes' second-best Race Engineer but is still the fourth-best in F1 Manager 2023 on the whole.
An 88 overall for George Russell's Race Engineer is nothing to be sniffed at. Dudley has been at Mercedes for years but is enjoying his first full season as a Race Engineer in 2023.
Dudley's highest stat is his 90 Communication, but his 87 Feedback and 86 Composure are also impressive.
Peter Bonington
Peter "Bono" Bonington is probably the most famous Race Engineer on the grid right now. Bono has been Sir Lewis Hamilton's Race Engineer since he joined Mercedes in 2013.
Prior to this, Bono was Michael Schumacher's Race Engineer, which makes it a total of 14 drivers' championships between his two drivers, not bad.
Bono's 94 Communication is excellent, as is his 91 Feedback. 84 Composure is still really good, so it's little wonder why he's joint-top on the overall list with 90 with our next inclusions.
Gianpiero Lambiase
Red Bull's Gianpiero Lambiase is also rated 90 overall in F1 Manager 2023.
Lambiase has been Max Verstappen's Race Engineer during the Dutchman's entire eight-year-long stint at Red Bull.
Lambiase has the highest stat of any of the top five Race Engineers with 97 Communication. His Feedback is up at 91, and Composure is 87.
Riccardo Adami
Ferrari's Riccardo Adami is the best Race Engineer in the game, thanks in part to his 93 Feedback. Adami's 90 Overall is impressive, as is his 90 Communication.
Adami has been the Race Engineer for Carlos Sainz during the Spaniard's three-year stint at Ferrari. Adami's time in F1 goes back over twenty years though, having previously worked for Minardi and Toro Rosso.
Adami joined Ferrari in 2015, becoming Sebastian Vettel's Race Engineer at the Scuderia.
