Guilty pleasure? No way. We've got no shame when we say that we're enjoying every moment of Farming Simulator 22. There have been a lot of improvements and additions implemented into this year's game. So, it's understandable if some have been lost in transition to Farm Sim 22.
Something that has gone under the radar for a lot of people is the implementation of greenhouses. Greenhouses are very handy when it comes to making money off fruit and vegetables.
How do you get greenhouses, though? And how do you get the most out of them? We've got everything you need to know right here!
With Farming Simulator 25 right around the corner, you don't have to pack up the greenhouses just yet.
Finding and buying greenhouses
There are no locations on the map which sell greenhouses, so you'll have to go to the in-game store to get them. Go to the store, then construction before heading to production and greenhouses. There are three types to choose from: small, medium and large. Their prices are between $3,000 and $11,000.
It will likely come in handy to purchase and place a water storage tank near the greenhouses as well. This is because you'll need to feed water into the greenhouses to grow crops. You could transport the water in yourself, but if the nearest lake is far away, this might not be economical.
What can greenhouses produce?
The easiest way to see what your greenhouses are producing is to go in them and assess the situation. You do this by going through the doors then heading over to the spanner icon and pressing R if you're on PC. Each size of greenhouse can make the same crops, size doesn't alter this.
Tomatoes, lettuce and strawberries can all be made here. The difference, however, is the amount one full greenhouse will produce. The amount of water is different too, as small greenhouses use 16 litres of water every 30 minutes, medium 32 and large 64. See the table below for reference:
Size/Crop | Small | Medium | Large |
---|---|---|---|
Tomato | 16 | 28 | 64 |
Lettuce | 5 | 14 | 32 |
Strawberry | 32 | 56 | 128 |
Going to the production chains menu will allow you to commence or deactivate certain crops from each greenhouse. You will have to manually fill the greenhouses with water too, but if you've got a tank nearby, this isn't difficult.
Selling
What you can also do in the production lines menu is set what you want your produce to automatically do. Storing will set the crops to automatically go into storage, as long as you don't reach your storage limit. Selling will automatically sell the crops as soon as they're produced. The issue there though is that there's a 40% delivery charge for auto selling.
The last mode for your crops is distributing. This one sends it onto the next production plant. For tomatoes and lettuce, this doesn't apply as there is nothing more you can make out of them. Strawberries, however, can be made into something else, as they're one of the ingredients for cakes in the bakery.
The best way to go about selling tomatoes and lettuce though, is to do so manually at one of the locations i.e., the restaurant, which will give you good money for them.
